Bagless WiFi-Connected Robot Vacuum

The best bagless robot Vacuum, wifi-connected robot is an all-black, utilitarian design. Its price is in line with other high-end smart home robotic vacuums.

It can be controlled using the physical Clean and Dock buttons on the top, via the SharkClean app, or by using voice commands via Alexa and Google Assistant. It comes with a variety of smart features like home mapping and virtual "no-go zones".

Matrix Clean

The top vacuum cleaner in America (based on NPD Group/Retail tracking Service data). Matrix Clean features incredible suction power, Matrix & Precision Home Mapping, and a self-emptying base.

SharkClean is an app that you can download on your smartphone to map out your rooms. The app lets you create an agenda to keep your home tidy or you can pick specific rooms to have Matrix begin cleaning the room automatically. You can also set 'no-go' zones like beds or closets that you don't want it to get into.

The app also lets you utilize the "spot" cleaning on demand feature. You can choose a spot that is dirty on your floor map, and the robot will move over that area by repeatedly swiping its cleaning pad. It can pick up everything, from dog hair tumbleweeds and small pieces of paper from a recent crafting project.

The Matrix will return to its dock after it has finished cleaning and empty itself into the bin that is included. This is a pretty neat feature as it cuts down on the amount of hand-on maintenance you'll need to perform.

This robot's LIDAR mapping sensor is situated just above. This may make it difficult to get under low-lying furniture such as sofas and tables. This is a great option for those who don't mind that it is slightly taller than other robots. Be aware that this model does not come with an HEPA air filter like some other models in this list.

Precision Home Mapping

Shark's Matrix Clean Navigation is a precision grid that ensures that no spot is missed. Amazing suction draws dirt, dust and debris to a bagless self-emptying robot vacuum base that has a 60-day capacity. Precision home mapping combines 360deg of LiDAR vision with a precise home map in the SharkClean app to enable completely autonomous movement and intelligent object avoidance. Night or day, it creates a precise map of your space to allow complete navigation without crashing into furniture or other obstacles. This means that your robot will be left to complete a cleaning schedule or you can trigger Matrix cleaning on demand and set room-specific goals anywhere within the app.

Powerful Suction

The RV2502AE is an excellent mid-range robot cleaner that checks all of the boxes. It's easy to use, creates accurate home maps, and comes with a a self-emptying bagless base. It's also less expensive to run than other robot vacuums.

It is a plethora of power. It uses its side brushes to move hair and carpet fibers into the brushroll. This prevents the accumulation and blockage of the brushroll as seen on other robotic vacuums and makes this one more effective in picking up pet hair.

In addition to its suction-boosting and self-emptying base, this robot vacuum bagless self-emptying features Matrix Clean Navigation for a thorough cleaning process, Precision Home Mapping for object avoidance, a high-efficiency HEPA filter that catches 99 percent of odors, allergens, and dust mites and two power modes to suit different flooring types, and a remote control that gives you access to all its functions. It is also compatible with voice assistants, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant which means you can begin cleaning without having to touch the robot.

While it's a great option for most homes, some may have issues with its navigation abilities. The bump bot had issues with stairs. Other bump bots can avoid them, but this one couldn't. It used LiDAR sensors and infrared to map my home but it was constantly mistaking my cat condo as a staircase and asked me whether I wanted to move it. It also had a shorter running time than advertised, with only 180 minutes.

Self-Empty Base

Some robots - like this one - come with self-emptying bases that vacuum or dump the debris in the onboard dust bin into an external dirt compartment for easier maintenance. These are called the Clean Base Dirt Disposal by iRobot, Auto Empty Station by Ecovacs or bagless modern vacuum Self Emptying Base by Shark. They are a great option, but they can also be noisy and messy. They typically require special disposal bags.

This Shark model is bundled with a HEPA-filtered bagless base and boasts a huge capacity. It can store debris for up to 60 days, and does not require daily emptying like other models. Shark's suction is powerful enough to handle even the toughest mess. The docking station's vacuum to empty the dust bin is surprisingly noisy.

When the robot is connected to an outlet on the wall and charged the battery, a beep is heard and a green light will pulse across its top to show it's ready to start cleaning. If the battery of the robot is low it will dock to its base until it is recharged. It's important that the dock or Self-Empty Base is located in a position that isn't blocked by furniture or other objects and is free of obstructions in the area in front of it.

Although this model is slightly more expensive than the other mid-range robotic mop models we've tested, it feels sturdy and has superior performance on plain floors, a longer maximum battery life, less demanding maintenance requirements and a wider selection of automation options such as virtual boundary markers. The iRobot Roomba i7, however remains our top choice because it feels more durable and more sophisticated, charges faster and is able to be tangled with rug tassels less often and has a larger capacity battery.

Easy Setup

The Shark AI Ultra comes with an easy-to-use Schedule that requires just few inputs. You can choose the date and time for sunrise and sunset. You can also choose the duration of the ramp times (increasing brightness or decreasing) and also whether to turn the lights on at night.

It does not include the smart mapping feature or voice control like Alexa or Google Assistant, but it does feature a very useful free programming suite. This suite includes a number of Windows-based applications that allow for operating parameter settings and communication including dmXLAN switch, node configuration and real-time testing and fast replication to multiple installations.

The interface is easy to understand even for the most inexperienced user. The top tabs correspond with the screens that will be displayed by the installer. There are tabs to play around with different colors and messages. It is a powerful tool that allows you to quickly create a program installation. It is lightweight at 1.3MB and works with anything from Windows 7 down to Windows 95.
