Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The most effective way to improve your gear in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This allows you to upgrade your gear without having rely on expensive trades or drops. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items.

Upgrading equipment grants an additional bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus scales according to the rarity and strength of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components are the parts that make your weapons and armor better. You can locate them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors, or finding them in item-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that has them, or by utilizing a high-tier salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed when they are removed from the item.
