The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The iRobot Roomba 980 is the latest model in the series of top-of-the-line robot vacuum cleaners that are a staple of any modern household. This model is extremely powerful suction and an HEPA filter that'll aid anyone who is concerned about allergies. On top of that, it also has a powerful battery which can clean for up to two hours, and it automatically returns to its dock when its bin is full.

Smart mapping is a different feature that assists in identifying areas in your home that require attention, and then creates a path for cleaning around them. This technology is very effective in navigating toys left on the floor or furniture legs sticking out under things. It also has a camera that can snap the Roomba back to the real world when it begins to drift from its intended location.

iRobot has also added a new set of rollers under the Roomba's bottom that don't have bristles and, therefore, tend to be more resistant to tangles than earlier models. These rollers are also taller and can fit under beds or couches with low sides. They're specifically designed to make this model more adaptable to different floor types.

What sets the Roomba 980 apart from other high-end models however, is its incorporation of the latest dirt detection feature that utilizes cameras to identify tiny bits of dirt. This is an improvement over the previous version which relied on an algorithm that was driven by sensors to bounce around the room, and then clean everything three times at different angles.

Despite these small shortcomings, the Roomba 980 remains one of our Best Affordable Robot Vacuum-performing robots, and isn't even nearly as expensive as some of the other top-of-the-line models in this list. It has many of the features you would expect from a top model, but doesn't come with all the fancy apps and smart home integration that you'll see in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba can be set up quickly and is ready for use immediately. After taking off the yellow bin insert and pull tab from its undercarriage it is simply connected to a wall socket or its Home Base docking stations, hit the "Clean button" and let it do its job. It will automatically return to its dock when its battery is out or it's stuffed with debris, and it also has indicators at the top for when the bin is full, it requires recharging, or its Wi-Fi signal has gone out.
