French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

We asked experts like Ladina Schopf, interior designer and architect, as well as the founder of LS Projects, for tips on how to select the best one. We looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other factors.

The doors are another problem with this refrigerator. The sunken handles let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a hard time closing them without slamming. It would have been more effective if these had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those looking to blend the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also less expensive than the top counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which helps make it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door refrigerator that won't cost a fortune this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a simple fridge which may not be as eye-catching as some of its competitors however it has enough features to make a suitable choice. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. The drawer allows you to divert part of the refrigerator's cooling power directly into this area, meaning you can store foods that need extra attention. You can alter this feature by using a slider that's located right outside of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the generic settings work better than the specific ones.

During my tests, the refrigerator's temperatures were fairly consistent across all areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator didn't vary much from 38 degrees. This is a solid performance, but it does not quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat in order to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from grey-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It does an excellent job of repelling fingerprints and streaks, even compared to shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
